Introduction
This is the most direct and simple exercise for connecting to the Teacher(s). You may find it the easiest; but most likely you will find it the most difficult; because it is so simple and direct. For many, it will take time to build up to more than 5 or 10 minutes of this. In fact, this meditation may become possible only after working with other exercises for some time.
If you chose to do this ‘connection’ – meditation exercise; feel free to do it as long or as short as you like. For example, you could do 10 minutes then bring another pray/med in.
Exercise
- Sit quietly for a few moments. Use your breath or a mantra or whatever that helps you slow down.
- Focus on your heart centre. Let your heart open. Like in the heart opening pray/med, you can use your imagination. -imagine you are opening to your child or a loved one – Take the time you need.
- Let the heart expand down to your lower tummy while you stay in the heart.
- Then, let your heart expand up into your fore head while you stay in your heart.
- When you are ready; imagine/ pretend you are in a very large room that is empty of everything except you and the Teacher(s). You can sense them as near or far away as you need or as they present themselves.
- There is nothing to do but open yourself to him/them. You may feel love or shame (because of feeling exposed), vulnerable, whatever. It doesn’t matter. They can see into you anyway.
- Whatever comes up, leave your heart open to the Teacher(s) and let them in.
- This takes a lot of courage to allow yourself to be seen and touched. Just hold your attention on the opening of your in relation to the Teacher(s) in the room with you.
- Stay with this in as a relaxed way as possible, for as long as you like.
- Don’t fret if you can’t sense them ‘doing’ much. Often, they work extremely subtly and it may take many sessions before you can sense/read their effect on you. Most of us will never know the full extent of how they will have helped us.
- If it is less time that you intended, feel free to shift to another type of pray/med even if you invite them into that one as well.
- They do not judge or condemn. They see, support and guide.
End this prayer /meditation by slowly opening your eyes. Take a moment to acknowledge the Teacher(s) who aided you in this effort. (and make sure you appreciate your own effort)
