  • Zikr or Mantra Prayer & Meditation

    A little planning

A little planning will help but, whatever decisions or plans you make can always be changed as you go along.  Here is a simple list of what would be good to be planned:

    • How long will you do your pray/med: set a time.
    • Which zikr or mantra mantras will you use? You can decide to do so many of one and so many of another. Or just see what feels right to do next.
    • Will you use Mala/Tasbih or use Zikr/Mantra without Tasbih/Mala? Remember a Tasbih is a Sufi name for a Mala. It has 99 beads (in remembrance of the 99 Names of Allah) and a central bead which remembers the whole. A Mala has 108 beads.

  • Direct connect to Teachers med

    Introduction

This is the most direct and simple exercise for connecting to the Teacher(s). You may find it the easiest; but most likely you will find it the most difficult; because it is so simple and direct. For many, it will take time to build up to more than 5 or 10 minutes of this. In fact, this meditation may become possible only after working with other exercises for some time.

If you chose to do this ‘connection’ – meditation exercise; feel free to do it as long or as short as you like. For example, you could do 10 minutes then bring another pray/med in.

    Exercise

    • Sit quietly for a few moments. Use your breath or a mantra or whatever that helps you slow down.
    • Focus on your heart centre. Let your heart open. Like in the heart opening pray/med, you can use your imagination. -imagine you are opening to your child or a loved one – Take the time you need.

  • Opening the Heart Meditation 2

Keep in mind, you can mix and match as you like

Start by taking a few breaths consciously, if that works for you. Bring your attention to the Heart Centre – the centre of the chest.

Ask/ invite the Teacher(s) to guide you. You can use their name(s) or not, as you wish. If you use their name; use their full name including titles. Always, as a sign of respect.

Imagine you can open a door in the bottom of the heart and let it extend down to your lower tummy while you stay in the Heart Centre. You will like experience your breath starts to move to the lower tummy. Give yourself the time you need.

Make a point to open to the Teacher(s), remember his presence.

  • Opening the Heart Meditation

    Introduction

There will be a few types of meditation/prayers put in the menu. As you get a feel of them (probably in combination with what you already do) you will find a way that suits you. And that way will suit you until it doesn’t. Which is a way of saying that it is time to experiment or let things adjust or relax or change a little. As you learn about different approaches, don’t be shy about experimenting, mixing and matching.

The exercise: this overall structure of this meditation can be found in interviews with Irena Tweedie on YouTube called: Irena Tweedie – early interview

Start by taking a few breaths consciously, if that works for you. Bring your attention to the Heart Centre – the centre of the chest.

Healing, balancing & aligning energy centres with the Teacher(s)

A few words about chakras or energy centres.

Put very simply, they are points of energy (wheels of energy) that are an entrance point of spirit/energy for the governing and balancing of the seven bodies or levels of our existence*

They affect the physical organs and systems, emotional and psychological, as well as the subtle spiritual aspects and ‘responsibilities’ that we have. I use the word responsibility – not to imply guilt or duty – rather, to the degree that; if we don’t take responsibility (within realistic level of our awareness) then other forces – often the ego and the 5 poisons (mentioned in menu drop-down: about prayer & meditation) will tend to make our decisions and chose our directions.

  • Heart of the Breath Prayer/ Meditation

    An introduction

There are a few of things worth mentioning about the wording of this meditation. First thing, I will use the word ‘imagination’. Do not feel you must be able to ‘see’ something. Just ‘pretend’ or just get a ‘feeling’ for it. When you ‘pretend’ to be receiving this ‘magic light’ or living light (with a little sincerity for a healthy outcome), you are beginning the process of opening yourself; whether you are aware of it or not.

Don’t try to measure the value, depth or effectiveness of any given prayer/meditation. Appreciate how little we know about the bigger picture and even about the depths of ourselves.  Give your prayer/meditation time to help you.

  • About Prayer & Meditation

Skip this article (and this section of the menu), if it suits you, and go straight to practicing your prayer/meditation while inviting the Baba(s) to guide and support you in that practice. This article (and this part of the Menu) is just a few comments about the practice and process of prayer or meditation. It is not absolute, and ultimately, you will have to find your own way, in any case.

    Why do people pray/meditate?

Some people feel compelled to by some force inside them. It is as crucial as air. Others want to feel less stressed and calm their minds. There are so many reasons why we would want to meditate. For some people they are opening their hearts in a type of prayer; whether asking for something of the Divine or simply making a connection to what you might call the Unity of Being.  Some of us won’t even know why. In the end, reasons are far less important than just going forward and doing it. But most people are pulled to this experience because there is a timing in their development that says: ‘Now; it is time to get going’.
